Every great website needs structure. With Super, all you need are Notion blocks to build yours.
Using Notion blocks to layout a page
Everything you add to a Notion page, from text to complex databases, is a building block. Using blocks in your site structure makes it easy to move your content around – just drag and drop each block until you’re satisfied with how the page looks.
Creating a simple site
A simple website has a home page with a few other subpages. You can follow the sequence below to set up a simple site and ensure it has all the basics before going live.
1. Create a Notion page
Sign up for Notion if you haven’t already and create a new Page. This will be where your homepage content lives and what Super uses as your homepage. Follow our easy guide to create your first site in Super.
2. Create subpages in Notion
To add subpages to your site, click the plus (+) icon next to your homepage in Notion. This will add a page inside and create a hierarchy of your site — your homepage is the parent page, and all pages underneath are its child pages (subpages).

If you already have a Notion page with the content you want to use as a subpage, drag and drop it onto your homepage in Notion. Or right-click on its title and select Move to then click on your homepage to move it there.
3. Use Super Themes to hide subpages
When you add a subpage to the homepage, it will appear on the homepage like this:

To avoid a homepage filled with clickable Notion subpage blocks, you can use Super Themes to hide them. Doing this will hide the subpages from your homepage so visitors won’t see them (but you will still see them in Notion) — you can make clickable links to these pages in the navbar and footer, instead.
To hide subpages:
- Head to your Super site dashboard
- Go to the Design section, click Create a new theme if you don’t have one already, and give it a title name (this is for your reference only and will not appear anywhere on your site)
- Select the Layout section and under Notion page links, click on Hide
4. Create a navbar in Super
Now that your subpage blocks are hidden from your homepage adding them to a navbar will make them accessible to your site visitors. To set up a navbar:
- Go to your Super site dashboard
- Click to open the Navbar section
- Choose one of the four navbar types to enable it
- Customize the appearance of your navbar
Read our guide here to learn more about using navbars on your site.
5. Add a Super footer
Similar to creating a navbar, you can also put subpage links in your footer. To add a footer:
- Go to your Super site dashboard
- Head to the Footer section
- Select one of the three footer types to enable it
- Under Links, click Add a new link
- Select Page, give your subpage a title (this will appear in the footer), press the expand button, and select the correct page
If you want to learn more about how to make the most out of Super footers, take a look at our footer guide.
Now that your site is ready, you can style it, add brand and colors, and link your custom domain before officially launching it.
