Notion pages are the building blocks of everything on Notion, making it easy to structure, organize, and collaborate with your team. Further, they help you collaborate with your team and integrate with your favorite tools.
Notion pages come into use for all purposes - project management, database management, team planning, etc. You can also create a fully functional Notion website with multiple pages that seamlessly interact with each other.
Here are four different ways to create pages on Notion:
1. Click on the ➕ icon in the left pane, next to the teamspace or private Notion space to create a new page.
2. Click the + New Page button at the bottom left of your screen to open a pop-up window for a new page.
3. If you want to create a sub-page, click on the ➕icon next to the parent page. For example, clicking on the ➕icon next to the Agency Dashboard page will create a sub-page under it.
4. To turn a block into a new page, click on the six dots icon next to it, select Turn into, and then choose Page.
Alternatively, click on Turn into page in, then select the parent page.
How to set up your Notion page?
You can set up your Notion page by using one of the many initial options available for every new page. You can start from scratch or fast-track the process with a block or a template. The latest Notion AI capability allows you to start with content that AI creates and build upon it.
Even if you go with a template, you can easily modify it. We recommend starting with a block if you already know what your page should look like. But if you are figuring it out on the go, start with an empty page.
Here is what the page looks like initially:
If you choose to start from scratch, click on the Empty page option. It will render a blank page where you can start with the block you want.
The option - Start writing with AI - allows you to give a command to the Notion AI bot. You can ask it to write content, create tables with specific data, create a to-do list, set up a meeting agenda, and more. It will generate some content quickly that may inspire creativity, but you may need to edit it to make it suitable for human consumption.
Clicking on the Import option will show a list of tools that Notion integrates with. You can pick one to import content from. Notion’s integrations make it super easy for its users to work on the tools they are familiar with without moving away from Notion.
Notion also allows you to start with a template. By clicking on the Template option, you can access Notion’s free template library. Pick the one that best aligns with your goal of creating the page to import the template into your Notion page. Notion offers templates for most purposes, but if you intend to create a Notion website, you should check out templates by Super.
The remaining four options - Table, Board, Timeline, and Calendar are different database views that Notion offers. We have covered those topics in depth in our comprehensive guide to using Notion database.
After setting up the skeletal structure of your page, start adding blocks for utility and design purposes. For representation purposes, we have imported the Blog Post template.
We can add any Notion block by typing ‘/’ and selecting from the list.
Finally, you can add different colors to blocks to make them stand out from the text.
How to share Notion pages?
Once you are satisfied with the design and content, you may want to share it with your peers or make the Notion page public. To do that, click on the Share button at the top-right corner of your screen and select from the available options provided by Notion.
It's important to note that the Notion pages you share are not fully optimized for search engines, which means they can't rank or generate organic traffic to your page. As a result, your target audience would not be able to discover your content.
Additionally, Notion pages are assigned a random domain name by default. Although you can change it from the Notion settings section, you cannot eliminate the ".notion.site" extension, unless you subscribe to the Notion Plus plan.
You can address both of these issues by using Super to create your Notion website. At an additional price of $6 over the Notion Plus plan, you get additional design features that make your website look more professional. You get way more customization options that make your pages truly stand out.
Additionally, Super enables you to create fast-loading websites with custom domain names and custom navbars, supported by powerful integrations. This allows you to continue using your favorite tools while crafting a stellar Notion website through Super.
