A powerful toolkit that supports a growing web design brand
Roxana worked as a UX/UI designer in a tech company for five years. But after the pandemic hit, she quit her job and started her own online business as a full-time Notion consultant.
An unexpected chain of events spurred the decision. After seeing others use Notion on Twitter, she tried it. Roxana found Notion frustrating at first, but people kept recommending it, so she gave it another go.
"I watched a few YouTube videos and realized that everyone uses Notion differently," she says. "That's when I truly gave it another try and got hooked."
Roxana's first paid Notion project came after sharing her workspace during a Notion learning livestream. She was inspired by the project and launched her brand, NotionFlows, and a Notion-based website to go with it.
"When I shared my website online, it created a bit of hype. The person in charge of the Notion certified consultant program noticed my work and messaged me on Twitter, saying I should apply to be a consultant. I applied and successfully passed the application process."
Today, Roxana builds custom Notion workspaces and websites for individuals and companies — primarily for those in the tech and creative sector, marketing agencies, startups, and entrepreneurs. Most projects are personal websites or company websites, as well as directories.
"What people seem to appreciate about Notion websites is that they can stay within the ecosystem without switching to another tool," she says.
"It's just as easy as adding a document, and they don't have to worry about the technical aspects behind the scenes that make everything work smoothly. That's why people come to me to create their websites."
Overcoming inefficiencies in the website creation process
Roxana's first Notion website was built using Fruition. It required a lot of manual work — she had to handle all the coding and related tasks herself. Other tools, such as Potion, Wix, WordPress, and Webflow, didn't make the cut either.
"WordPress can be quite complicated with its numerous plugins and options in the dashboard," Roxana explains. "Building a website can be time-consuming, especially if you're new to these tools. While Wix offers a drag-and-drop interface, I searched for something more user-friendly and easy to work with. Webflow, although powerful, had a steeper learning curve."
After trying Fruition, she found the overall experience didn't meet her expectations. One of the main concerns was that the tool was free. While a free tool is great for those starting, the limited capabilities of the product caused issues for her client workflow. For example, Roxana had to customize every URL manually.
"If you wanted to change it, you had to go to CloudFlare and manually write the URL for every page. It was time-consuming,” she says.
But then Roxana came across a tweet where someone recommended trying Super.
"I gave it a shot and found it to be excellent. Super had a dashboard that the other tool lacked and was much easier to use. So I thought, maybe it's time to switch."

It was a seamless fit into her client’s workflow. The initial phase involves discussing the client’s needs and requirements. Roxana then creates a small website mockup using Figma and builds the entire site using Super.
"What I particularly like about Super is the ability to customize Notion blocks themselves using CSS — I can transform a block into a button and style it however I want.”

In the past, Roxana had to rely on custom CSS to handle aspects of the site, such as navigation and formatting. It wasn't the best option for clients who weren't tech-savvy.
"I would provide them with documentation on changing their footer, navigation, and other elements. However, it was overwhelming for some, and they would often contact me for assistance. Fortunately, my work has become much easier with the new features introduced in Super."
Roxana's clients can confidently maintain their websites after the handover. While some require additional website expansion in the future, Roxana aims to empower them to feel fully in control of their website customization.
"I can guide clients on how to make changes directly in the Super dashboard. I can still apply custom CSS based on the existing structure, but clients don't have to handle the actual code."
