Super properties are meta properties that you can use with your website particularly on blog sites so that you can control the SEO meta data as well as a few other things. This makes it really easy for you to manage all of your website content publishing from within Notion itself.
How to use the Super Properties
Using the super meta properties is really easy. Add some properties to your database in Notion and name the property, according to the meta information that you want to manage. Set the appropriate matching type of property that the meta property needs.
There are two types of Super Properties that you can use.
- Link Control Properties
- SEO Meta Properties
Link control properties are used to change how super creates and links to the database page. These allow you to change the URL that is given to a page, and also whether the page is clickable or should link to an another URL.
SEO meta properties are used to override the default SEO information that is extracted from the page automatically by Super. Using these properties allows you to control what SEO information is set and means that you don’t need to log into Super to do this. This is great when collaborating with content writers in Notion.
Here are all the Super Properties that you can use:

super:slug
- Next go to the database view and/or the master database in Notion
- Edit the view and display the new Super Property in the view, for example, on the gallery cover or in the list.
- Make sure to save the view by clicking on Save for Everyone, if required.
Link control properties explained
Link control properties are for changing how database pages are created and what happens when they are clicked.
super:link
Link to an external page when clicking db item instead of opening db page
Notion property type: url
When a user clicks on a database item, instead of opening the database page, it may be more convenient to provide a link that takes the user to a specific page or resource related to that item. This link can be customized to point to a specific location, such as a related article or an external resource. In addition, this approach can help to improve the user experience by providing a more streamlined and efficient way to access information.
By incorporating this feature, users can quickly and easily find the information they need, without having to navigate through multiple pages or menus to locate the desired content.
super:slug
Set this page’s slug (nested under parent, not used if page has already been created in Super)
Notion property type: text
This will set the initial Page Path name and override the default way of creating pages that uses the page title. It is important to note that if the page has already been created in Super, the slug will not be used and will be disregarded. Taking the time early to properly set the slug helps ensure proper organization and easy navigation for users, and we recommend that this property is set as soon as the page is created in Notion. Editing this after the page is created in Super will not change the slug/page path in Super—you will need to edit the page in the Pages section of Super.
super:noclick
Prevent the database item from opening its page when clicked.
Notion property type: checkbox
To prevent the database item from opening its page when clicked, you can disable the link functionality of the item, so it no longer responds to clicks. This is handy for galleries of pictures you don't want to be clickable to their own page, or when you are not ready to publish content on the site yet.
Super Meta Properties explained
Super Meta Properties are used to override the default SEO meta information for the page in the Super site.
meta:title
Overwrite default title for SEO and feeds
Notion property type: text
To increase the visibility of your website and make it more attractive to search engines and RSS feeds, it is important to overwrite the default title with a more descriptive and keyword-rich title that accurately reflects the content of your page. By doing so, you can improve your website's ranking and increase the likelihood of attracting organic traffic. Additionally, a well-crafted title can entice readers to click through to your website, increasing engagement and potentially leading to conversions or sales.
meta:description
Overwrite default description for SEO and feeds
Notion property type: text
We need to ensure that our website's SEO and feeds have a detailed and informative description that helps users determine the page's content and helps search engines understand the match to search intent. This will help potential visitors and customers understand what our website and business is about. Using this property overrides the default settings that Super will use to set the SEO information.
meta:image
Overwrite default image for SEO and feeds
Notion property type: media/file
You can use this feature to replace the default image used for SEO and feeds. By doing so, you can customize the image that appears when someone shares your content on social media or when it appears in search engine results. This can help you create a more professional and polished look for your website or blog. Additionally, you can choose an image that is more relevant to your content, which can make it easier for users to identify what your content is about at a glance.
meta:canonical
Canonical URL for this page
Notion property type: url
This tag specifies the canonical URL for the page, which is the preferred URL that should be used if there are multiple URLs for the same content. The canonical URL helps the search engines to understand which version of the content is the original one and should be ranked higher in search results. It is important to have a canonical URL to prevent duplicate content issues, which can harm the website's search engine optimization (SEO) efforts.
meta:author
Overwrite default author for feeds
Notion property type: author
In order to customize the author information for your feeds, you can overwrite the default author. This allows you to provide more personalized information to your readers, creating a stronger connection and helping to establish your brand. By providing additional details about yourself or your team, such as a brief bio or relevant experience, you can increase reader engagement and establish yourself as an expert in your field. Overall, taking the time to update your author information can help you build a stronger, more loyal following for your content.
