She creates, produces, and strategizes. But above all, Brittany Marie Bertelsen is an expert storyteller. She shows brands how to turn their vision into words and dreams into doable roadmaps.
It’s not been a simple journey, though. First came writing, then costume design, and a toxic coaching culture. Despite it all, Brittany Marie has found her calling in developing strategies for multi-talented creatives who want to run viable businesses. Supported by Notion infrastructure, of course.
Marketing through the lens of showmanship
To say Brittany Marie is a creative powerhouse is not to say anything at all. She started out with a theater background, writing plays, designing costumes, and working as a wardrobe coach. But gaining confidence in selling was challenging, not least because of negative coaching experiences.
With Brittany Marie’s theatre and coaching days behind her, she has successfully transitioned into podcasting and business strategy. But stagecraft still features in her professional life. She borrows the marketing concept from show production. After all, a play involves many steps, just like project management.
“It’s about looking at the entire production, the full journey for the audience, the spectators. If you allow it, marketing can be fun — it’s just a big spectacle,” she says.
“Yes, you’re getting people to buy from you or engage with you. Even if asking people to watch your content, that’s a sale because they have to pay with their time. But marketing is about asking for the sale with a really great show around it.”
“And telling a good story will land the sale every time. If you’ve got a good story down, you’ve got it.”
Establishing a strong, creative brand
When Brittany Marie was first building her business, she went by the name Blythe Mithrals. However, this name was confusing to explain to clients, and offering multiple different services didn’t help.
“I was all over the place. Without strong direction, I ran more of a full-time hobby than a business,” she says. “Once I realized my sweet spot was in marketing and the importance of a name clearly defining what I do, things changed.”
That’s how Dreamstruck Studio was born. With plenty of other multi-passionates wanting to build a sustainable business, Brittany Marie now uses her expertise to guide them in the right direction. Most of her clients are service providers with a big passion, dream, and internationality about what they’re doing — but they also want to feel good about making sales.
“They don’t just want passive digital marketing. They want to connect with people and build a community,” Brittany Marie says.
“Divine readers, tarot readers, podcasters, content creators, brand designers, social media managers, copywriters — anyone from that creative or intuitive mindset. I sometimes refer to them as creative misfits or rebellious dreamers.”
Clients like this are a great fit for Brittany Marie. They have such a big vision that it’s hard for them to break it down into practical steps. Her sweet spot is helping them ditch this struggle.
“I love hearing people’s dreams and simplifying their goals. It doesn’t have to be hard. But they’re probably making it harder on themselves because of all the noise, input, proven methods, hot takes, and opinions on social media,” she adds.
“When running your own business, it’s crucial to be discerning and take the simple route, getting things out there, even if not perfect. That’s what I focus on.”
The only way is Notion
Brittany Marie’s website embodies her vision. Brand designers are often surprised she built it using Super and Notion. She’s not a coder, but the drag-and-drop system and custom graphics allow her to manipulate the site to match her brand.
“Super leaves a lot of opportunity to make your Notion website your way, which is why I’m obsessed with it,” she says. “As a designer and indecisive Libra, I love that Notion’s limitations actually strengthen my design by focusing my capabilities within it. Giving myself those boundaries makes it fun. I’m always hitting strikes, no matter what.”
Notion heavily supports her business workflow, too. So much so that she insists her clients use Notion — to work more effectively and navigate different workspaces, documents, and assets. Her latest offering, Project: Booked Out!, even comes with a tailored workspace for all her clients to hit the ground running.
In the end, though, it’s the action that counts. It’s the key ingredient to succeed.
“As Beyonce said, ‘Don’t just talk about what you’re going to do. Go and do it.’”
“We talked about it; now you’re going to do it. And when we talk again, we’ll figure out the next step and keep building that in your Notion space, continuing to grow with that data, intel, and foundation to get booked out, launch, or sell a course — whatever you’re passionate about.”
“That’s how Notion makes things happen. It’s not about perfection. It’s about getting it done.”
