Your Notion workspace is where all the action happens. It’s the hub where you can organize data the way you want, be it for yourself, your team, or the company. By creating a workspace in Notion, you can secure space exclusively to a specific category of activities.
For example, you may have a workspace for yourself where you track your personal weekly planner, set reminders to pick up groceries on the way to work, etc. You can also have another workspace for your team where you can store your dashboards, project databases, etc. Your team can access the second workspace but not the first one even when both are under the same Notion account.
In this article, we will show you how to create workspaces in Notion and how to switch between them.
Here’s how to create a workspace in Notion:
After logging into Notion,
1. Click on your workspace name at the top-left corner of your screen, then on the “...” icon, and finally click on “Join or Create Workspace”
2. Determine the purpose of the workspace
On receiving the command to create a new workspace, Notion will prompt you to select the purpose behind creating the workspace. You can choose to create one for yourself, your school, or your team.
Select the option that applies the best to your requirements. You need not worry about being able to access all features available with your Notion plan — you can access them all, irrespective of the purpose of your workspace. Notion will only customize the workspace as per your input.
3. Set an icon for the workspace and give it a name
While setting an icon for your new workspace is optional, it’s best that you set one, primarily to make it identifiable among others. An icon will also make your Notion look more aesthetic.
Also, give the workspace a name that resonates the best with its purpose. For example, if you are planning to create a workspace to manage your design tasks, you can simply name it as - “Design Team.”
4. Invite your team to the new Notion workspace
Next, Notion will prompt you to invite your team to the workspace. There are two ways to invite them:
1. Type in their email addresses
2. Get the shareable link to joining the workspace and share it within your existing group. Anyone who can access the URL can join the workspace.
You can even skip this step and do it later. Or even invite no one if you created it for personal use.
5. Check out the new Workspace
Alright, your workspace is ready now. You can get started with:
2. Organizing content into Notion folders
4. Managing projects with databases
5. Customizing Notion templates
And many other activities.
In fact, you can also easily create a website with Notion with Super.
