Hover over the image that you want to resize, making the two corner lines visible. Click and hold on one of them and drag left or right to alter the image size.
Let’s discuss the process in detail.
1. Go to the Notion page containing the image
Here’s the page that we will refer to:
Notice the huge image towards the end of the page? We will resize and make it smaller so that the section fits well within a single page fold.
2. Hover over the image to display the corner lines
Take your mouse cursor over the image. Notion will display two corner lines at the left and right corners of the image.
3. Resize the Notion image
Click and hold the line at the left corner of the image and pull the cursor left to increase the size, or towards the right to decrease it.
Similarly, click and hold the line at the right corner and drag it right to increase the image size and left to decrease it.
Here’s what the resized image looks like fitting well into the fold.
Benefits of adjusting the size of Notion images
1. Faster loading pages
Oversized images can significantly slow down your Notion pages. This is especially detrimental for Notion based websites. While the speed of Notion websites built with Super will barely be impacted by large pictures, using images of the right size and format is a good SEO practice in general.
2. Better-looking content
Well-sized images contribute to a clean, professional look and improve the overall visual appeal of your Notion pages. Haphazard aspect ratios and sizes make content look inconsistent and less trustworthy, negatively impacting the performance of business sites like Notion portfolios.
3. Readability
Properly sized images complement your text content without overwhelming it, enhancing the readability of your pages.
4. User experience
Consistent and appropriate image sizes create a smoother browsing experience, particularly when users are scanning through multiple pages or databases.
5. Mobile compatibility
Correctly sized images ensure your content looks good on both desktop and mobile devices, improving accessibility.
Mistakes to avoid while resizing of a Notion image
1. Improper sizing
Avoid making images too large or too small. Don't let them dominate the page or push other content out of view, and ensure they're not so small that details become unclear, especially for infographics or charts.
2. Inconsistent sizing
Try not to have drastically different image sizes within the same page or database, unless intentional. This will make your content look cluttered.
3. Neglecting mobile view
Don't forget to check how your resized images look on mobile devices. This is essential for websites and blogs to ensure that the website is responsive.
