Notion is addictive. People want to use it for all their online tasks, whether it's maintaining a journal or creating a Notion website - once they get accustomed to it. It is a feature-rich tool for content writers with advanced markdown and spell check.
However, not everyone uses Notion or wants to sign up for it. But every content writer is aware of Microsoft Word and probably uses it quite frequently. Word is more pervasive than Notion — users know their way around the tool and want to stick with it.
This makes it indispensable for Notion users to export their Notion pages to the docx format that’s amenable to Word.
Unfortunately though, Notion lacks built-in functionality for docx exporting. However, there is a workaround.
Let’s explore that.
Here are the five steps to exporting a Notion page to Word:
1. Open the Notion page that you want to export
We will use the page in the below image for reference.
2. Click on the three-dots icon and then on Export
Locate the icon at the top-right of the Notion page, as demonstrated in the below image.
3. Export the page in PDF format
Click on the Export format dropdown and select the PDF option.
Before finalizing the export, let's outline a few key customizations tailored to your unique needs:
1. Include database
If your page includes a database, choose to export it in the default view or the current view.
2. Include content
This option allows you to remove images and media from the backup version.
3. Page format
Select to export the page in any of these formats:
- A4
- A3
- Letter (default)
- Legal
- Tabloid
4. Scale percentage
It’s set to 100% by default - you can scale in or out by tweaking the percentage value.
You have the option to customize what the subpages would look like if you are subscribed to the Business pricing plan.
After customizing the settings, click on the
Export
button as demonstrated in the following image.
Next, select the local folder where you want to export and click on the Save button as indicated in the below screenshot.
Notion will export the PDF file to the selected folder.
4. Right click on the downloaded PDF, hover over the Open with option, and select Microsoft Word
5. Edit your Microsoft Word document
Your Notion page is now open in an editable Word document. Freely edit content or share it with your team.
