The content you create in Notion is often not limited to your usage alone. At times, you may want people to copy a format you create and use it for a common purpose, or for their benefit.
For instance, you can create cool Notion templates and sell them online. All your users need to do is duplicate your template into their Notion account and customize it. Similarly, you may want to create a template for Notion blogs that all your writers can use to create new content.
Even if your content is meant for your use alone, you may still find value with the page duplication feature of Notion. For example, you can use Notion to create a weekly planner once and keep duplicating it every week.
In short, duplicating Notion pages helps you save time, streamline your efforts, and make jobs easy.
Here are the four steps to duplicating a Notion page:
1. Open the page you want to duplicate
You can create a new Notion page and build it up before duplicating it. Alternatively, you can open an existing page that you want to duplicate before proceeding to the next step.
That page can be a template, dashboard, database or anything else. The process to duplicate any category of page is the same.
For reference, we will use an agency’s dashboard page as a sample. Here’s what it looks like.

2. Click on the “...” icon at the top-right of your page and then click on duplicate

Doing that will immediately create a new version of the file in the same folder as the existing file.
You can find it in the left pane of your Notion screen as shown in the below image. Notion automatically adds “(1)” to the file name to avoid keeping two pages with the same name in one folder.

Notion will also auto-open the duplicate version of the page for you to modify it.
3. Move the duplicated version of the page to the preferred folder
You may want to grant access to the duplicated version of the page to your clients or teams but you don’t want them to be able to edit the original version. To ensure that, simply drag and drop the page to a public folder - if it is visible in the left pane. But given how confusing Notion can get, the “Move to” option is a better way to do that.
You can find it by clicking on the “...” icon.

By clicking on it, you prompt another window that shows all the folders you can access. You can then dig into subfolders and move your page to the preferred one.
4. Update the access settings of the page
Now the duplicate version is ready to be shared with anyone. You can choose to share it with a particular team or make the Notion page public. Alternatively, you can also grant access to individual accounts if you plan to sell your pages.
To enable any of these settings, click on the “Share” button at the top-right corner of your screen and enter the email addresses of the people that you want to share your content with.

Alternatively, if you want to make the page public, turn the toggle on for “Share to web” and customize the access.
More methods to duplicate pages in Notion
A faster method to duplicate Notion pages is by clicking the “...” icon in the left pane, right next to the page that you want to duplicate, and clicking on “duplicate.”

All other steps remain the same but this method can save you some time.
The fastest method to duplicate, however, is by using the shortcut - CMD + D for Mac or CTRL + D for windows.
Here’s why you are unable to duplicate a page in Notion
- You don't have the permission to duplicate the page. Some pages are locked by the owner or they might have granted you a ‘read-only’ access. In this case, reach out to them and ask for the appropriate levels of access.
- The page is part of a database and cannot be duplicated separately. To fix this, you can share the whole database with the same audience that should be able to access the duplicated version. If that’s not an option, you can simply copy and paste all the blocks of the original page into another page in a different database or folder.
