Notion offers a myriad of security features to safeguard user data - not just from unauthorized access but also human and machine errors. For example, if you lose internet connectivity while working on a page, Notion goes offline, and syncs with the cloud version once it finds the internet. You do not lose data as long as the browser tab that contains your Notion page is open.
However, it’s not uncommon to lose pages in Notion, even if you backup your content frequently - unforeseen situations blindside the best of us.
For example, a team member may accidentally delete the original version of a landing page rather than a duplicated one that’s no longer associated with a campaign. But you discover that only weeks later when you need the main version for the next campaign.
What do you do?
You can simply hope that the bespoke landing page wasn’t deleted permanently, look for it in the Trash, and restore it once found.
Let’s elaborate with an example.
We created and then deleted a new version of our Notion dashboard for representation purposes. Here’s what it looks like:
We will refer to it throughout this guide.
Here’s how to recover deleted pages in Notion:
1. Click on Trash in the Notion sidebar
Click on the deleted page if you can see it. Clicking on the Restore icon will reinstate the page in the same Notion folder where it was.
2. Search for the page
If you can’t find your page in the list of pages Notion displays, type the keywords relevant to the page into the Notion search bar.
If the page is not permanently deleted, it should appear at the top of the list of pages, as demonstrated in the below image.
3. Click on the deleted page to open it and make sure it’s the right one
Notion displays a red alert at the top of the deleted pages, as visible in the below image.
You can access it to restore the page or delete it permanently.
The Notion page looks the same as before after it’s restored, as displayed in the below image.
Hope you find the deleted page using the Notion search option. If not, reach out to Notion support to check if they have it stored somewhere.
