Notion dark mode is the ideal setting for the nighttime. It’s easy on the eyes and enhances readability. However, the dark mode may not be ideal for design purposes. It constricts contrast and conceals colors.

The below image, for example, shows how the dark mode subdues other block background colors. While the text shines through, it’s hard to tell the background of the ‘Jump Links’ toggle block apart from the page as it blends into the black.

Notion light mode solves most of these problems. It could be a better choice for daytime use than the dark mode.

This guide walks you through the process of changing Notion to light mode.

Let’s turn on the lights.

1. Access the ‘Settings & members’ section from the Notion sidebar

This section helps you tweak all Notion workspace and account related settings.

2. Click on the ‘My settings’ tab in the ‘Account’ section

Light mode impacts the appearance at the account level, affecting all your workspaces.

So we want to access the ‘My settings’ tab under the ‘Account’ section of the ‘Settings & members’ view.

3. Click on the dropdown next to the ‘Appearance’ option

You will find the ‘Appearance’ section right at the top of the ‘Settings’ screen.

It would be set to ‘Dark’ as Notion is currently in dark mode. Click the dropdown to access all options.

4. Change to Notion light mode

Set the dropdown next to ‘Appearance’ to ‘Light’ to turn on Notion light mode.

5. Use Notion in light mode

You will immediately find the ‘Settings & members’ screen light up and turn white, indicating activation of light mode.

Click anywhere outside the ‘Settings & members’ popup window to access your Notion pages in light mode.
