Content editing tools must allow users to suggest edits instead of making changes directly. This ensures that the original text stays intact, while writers can review suggestions from editors, accept or reject them, and edit the draft accordingly.
Luckily, Notion has that capability. This, along with many other features, makes it the perfect tool for managing content projects. In this guide, we will cover the process of suggesting edits in Notion.
TL;DR
To suggest edits in Notion:
1. Open the page you want to review
2. Access the page settings and turn on the âSuggest editsâ toggle
3. Suggest edits
4. Accept or reject suggestions to implement changes
5. Turn off the suggestion mode
Letâs discuss these steps in detail:
1. Open the page you want to review
We will use the blog in the below image for demonstration purposes:
2. Access the page settings and turn on the âSuggest editsâ toggle
To add suggestions, click the three-dots icon at the top-right of your screen and toggle on the âSuggest editsâ toggle.
You will notice the âSuggestingâ notification in the page menu indicating that the suggestion mode is turned on.
3. Suggest edits in the Notion page
Now that the suggestion mode has been turned on, feel free to edit the draft as if you were making actual edits. Each edit will appear as a suggestion, meaning you can edit content without worrying about overwriting the original text.
Hereâs what an edit suggestion looks like:
It clearly shows what text was replaced and with what, making it easy for the writer to follow your suggestions.
Even the Markdown edits appear as suggestions, so be assured that every small change is recorded as a suggestion just like in Google Docs.
4. Accept or reject suggestions to implement changes
Writers can access all your edit suggestions. They can accept or reject them by clicking the âď¸ or the âď¸ icon.
They can also add an emoji to acknowledge the suggestion.
5. Turn off the Notion suggestion mode
Once you are done with the review, click the small âď¸ icon next to the âSuggestingâ notification to exit suggestion mode.
